A Jelly Bean Poem and A Prayer

This are two a really fun ways to share the Easter story. Find each color Jelly bean and put it in an egg. Then on Easter morning, or during the week share the story!

Red is for the blood He gave

Green is for the grass He made.

Yellow is or the sun so bright.

Orange is for the edge of night.

Black is for the sins we made.

White is for the grace He gave.

Purple is for His hour of sorrow.

Pink is for our new tomorrow.

An egg full of jelly beans, colorful and sweet is a prayer,

a promise, A loved one’s treat.

  1. I’m desperately trying to find the Jelly Bean story for Christmas… My Grandmother gave it to me on a piece of paper but then I lost it & she’ll be quite upset (I’m not sure where she got it from). It’s very similar to the Easter one, I just cant quite remember it! Not sure if it’s on your site, I’ve been searching & searching the net.

I was looking for something a little extra to explain Easter to my class of 3/4 year olds. The jelly bean story is perfect. Thank you for posting it!!

  3. I like your jellybean poem. I have seen things similar for Christmas, but never Easter. Thanks for sharing…..Cindi

  4. Isn’t that nice? That’s been the children’s front-of-the-church reading for all of Lent. It’s been quite lovely!

  5. Isn’t Easter the best? It means even more this year, since my little ones are old enough to understand what’s going on. Our first egg hunt is on Saturday…I’m sure I’ll be even more excited than they will. 🙂 Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for welcoming me into the webring…it was wonderful to find a community that seems to fit so well with my life. I’m looking forward to ‘meeting’ the rest of the group. Have a great day! ~christie
