Quick Storyline
The Restorer is a unique fantasy novel, melding elements of both medieval legends and futuristic speculations. Worn by her daily life, Susan Mitchell, wife and mother of four, finds refuge in the attic getaway built by her husband Mark. From there, she discovers a portal to a new world and finds herself thrust into the land belonging to the People of the Verses, only to discover she is their prophesied Restorer. As believers in the One, the People are poised on the edge of a knife blade. Surrounded by pagan nations threatening war, their Council is also fraught with unseen corruption because of the work of one member: the scheming Cameron. Though pockets of the People fight the darkness that quietly cloaks their land, many are beginning to forget their faith and the Verses given them by the One. Lost in this unfamiliar world, Susan finds herself in the care of Tristan, a guardian seeking to save his people. Recognizing unusual gifts in Susan that mark her as a Restorer, Tristan rescues Susan from Cameron’s grasp and secludes her away among his clan, Braide Wood. Though she faces the skepticism of some, such as Tristan’s cynical brother-in-law, she is soon accepted as the Restorer and reluctantly begins her training as a guardian. Susan wrestles to become worthy of her role while mourning her separation from her family. However, when Braide Wood is attacked by the pagan nation of Hazor and its children are demanded as tribute, Susan resolves to help. She is soon kidnapped by Cameron, however, and is dragged to the capital city of Lyric, where she is tortured and interrogated.
Her husband Mark rescues her unexpectedly, only to reveal himself a member of the land and son of the last Restorer. Partnering with Mark, Tristan, and their Braide Wood comrades, Susan helps break Cameron’s hold over the Council. Rallying the ten clans of the council to come to Braide Wood’s aid, she leads the united clans against the overwhelming force of Hazor’s army in a desperate attempt to save the People and reclaim them for the One.
