Christmas Wrapping Made Easy
In the past I had just wrapped my four kids’ presents and put the name tags on them , then I’d separate them into piles for each child. It made opening presents with four kids less chaotic on Christmas morning.
Then a couple of years ago I started selecting different wrapping paper for each child. No pesky name tags, and I can just throw the presents underneath the tree. The different wrapping paper is easy to find. Of course, it’s important to remember which paper goes with which kid so I just keep a sample with their names on it hidden until Christmas morning.
This year I’m trying something different with Christmas morning since we really don’t emphasize Santa. I’ll be putting the presents under the tree BEFORE Christmas and on Christmas Eve I’m going to hide them all over the room. So we’ll start off with the Christmas story and emphasize how the wise men sought after Christ, the greatest gift of all. Then I’ll give them their little scrap of wrapping paper and let them go find their presents.

I usually use the wrapping paper in different colors though this year we have a plethora of extra bags, so I am using gift bags. Instead of tags I m using different colored ribon (which I piced up cheap and which is easy to write on).
December 13th, 2006 at 9:16 amI have about the same tip up. I love doing that. On Christmas Eve we use the “What God Wants For Christmas” box and the downloaded scavenger hunt. They sell the box at WalMart or Christian stores and I love it, and the kids love it.

December 13th, 2006 at 3:33 pmLove the idea of different paper for each person. One memorable Christmas, we skipped putting up a tree and hid presents all over the house and property. The kids had to follow clues, solve riddles and such. They still talk about that year.

Even though we are all grown now, my sister has recently lamented that we don’t do it any more. My son is 17 months old and we plan to re-start the tradtion this year. I wrote about it here. December 14th, 2006 at 6:55 amlong ago now when my daughters were small we used to do the different paper - hiding combo. We did several scavenger hunts - which was great fun when they turned the tables on ME one year.
Another year I decided to try to teach a lesson about me, me, me-ism and so each gift had the name of someone else on it - in other words, each person was opening someone else’s gift - they they had to find the right person to whom it belonged. I received some glares, but it is the one Christmas trick they remember.
