Wordful Wednesday: God’s First Priority
I’ve mentioned before how I’ve been going through the Experiencing Christ Within workbook by Dwight Edwards. I’ve done my fair share of Bible studies, but this one seems so fresh and new. I am learning so much and hope some of what I’m learning is rubbing off.In week two, I explored the idea that people are not God’s first priority. That God’s main purpose is to show his glory!
Did you get what I just said?
We are here on earth to serve the living God and reveal His glory through our actions. Dwight Edwards says it like this, “Nothing-nothing-matters more to God than the glory of His name. He is ablaze with a perfect, pure jealousy for His reputation.”

You know, I sometimes think that we are making things unnecessary comlicated. Of course it is our main purpose and first priority to serve God and to glorify his name. So the Bible teaches us. The Bible also teaches us in the first four of the ten commandments how we should glorify God and His name. And by treating our neigbors as instructed by the remaining six commandments, we also glorify His name. The nature of God, and especially the concept of the trinity, is already beyond human comprehension.
Man can only do one thing at a time and therefore needs to determine his priorities. God is, amongst other things, omniscient and omnipotent. He can let a million things happen at once. Therefore He doesn’t need priorities.
