Exploring God’s Glory

God’s glory. His holy presence. It’s something so many people desire. But are they really ready for it?

In the Old Testament many prophets experienced God’s glory, and it wasn’t how many Christians today imagine it to be. Most often when God entered a place, the ground shook, the Temple filled with smoke and people fell down in fear.

Isaiah was no exception. When struck with the presence and glory of God, Isaiah cried, “Woe to me! I am ruined for I am a man of unclean lips.” He recognized the awesomeness of and the sinfulness of his soul.

What would happen if we were met with the presence of the Holy God? Thankfully, God will look upon us and see the blood of his son, but still the presence of God changes people.

Go here for the rest…

Yesterday morning when I got up and heard the birds singing, I experienced the glory of God. While I was jogging my usual 4 kilometres, smelling the flowers, I experienced the glory of God. While I was watching the morning star and the breaking of dawn, I experienced the glory of God. When I got back home my dog was waiting for me at the gate, his tail wagging, and I experienced the glory of God. When I woke up my son to get ready for school, he smiled and said: “Mornin Dad, what’s for breakfast, and I experienced the glory of God. When I left for my office, my wife’s kiss, her smile and her words “enjoy your day” still ringing in my ears, and I experienced the glory of God. When I entered my office I closed the door and enjoyed my usual Bible study between 7h30 and 8h00, and I experienced the glory of God. When I lost my client’s case in the Magistrates Court and my colleague who appeared for the other party, congratulated me on the way I nevertheless handled my cliet’s case, I experienced the glory of God.

    Very true, Daan,

Though unlike you, many people pass those moments by and don’t acknowledge God in them, thus witnessing, but not truly experiencing God’s glory and presence in a personal way.

It’s wonderful you’re able to look at the every day and experience God. I’m sure if people (me) stopped to notice God’s glory more often, we would experience his presence more.
