If any of you have been over to my blog, The Marketing Writer, you know that I’ve kept my focus on the marketing end of this writing life. Thus the clever title. My post for Monday will be about blogging and why it’s critical to keep a narrow focus. No discussion of the weather, politics, or whether anyone really cares about Britney’s latest hairdo. Of course, we’re not limited to one blog. So, if you need a place to vent, do it on another blog. So here it is!
Okay, I’m not really going to talk about Britney. Frankly, it scares me that people who have absolutely nothing to offer to the betterment of the world get so much press. I would like to talk about the things of Heaven, though. While I can find biblical viewpoints for marketing, I get precious little chance to give Him all the glory and just sing His praises. Hear me singing?
So I’ll spend time talking about our calling as writers. How to stay focused on His will, something that’s easy to forget in an industry that focuses so much on profit. Yes, profit is necessary for the publishers to stay in business. But our job is to remember that it’s God’s will that we should have this talent, and He will provide what the CBA needs. Not editors, not agents, not even us. If we can do that, we’ll be successful, published or otherwise.
Gina said to tell you about me. I’m a writer, I don’t tell. I’ve shown you what’s on my heart. Now you know me. And no, she didn’t really bully me into joining the group, I’m just slow. She’s got a heart for the Lord and a passion for writing. Why wouldn’t I want to hang out here?
