Grace: A Blast From the Past

February 2006
Grace 3 years Old

This evening after I read Grace a story I decided to tell her a princess fairytale. Grace, at 3 1/2 loves her Disney princesses so I started the fairytale off with Princess Grace who had a mean step-mother and two mean sisters. The mean step-mother made Princess Grace do all the work. All the laundry and sweep the floors and cook. But one day a prince came to her door and said, “Come to home my house. You can play and wear pretty dresses and eat pizza.”
“And donuts, ” she said. Then I asked Grace what Princess Grace did.

And she said, ” I didn’t go because my mommy said no.”

Her answer caught me off guard, but it made me think that she was being a very obedient princess (though real life usually tells a different story.” I kissed her and said, “You broke the magic spell. Your mommy became nice and your sisters became nice and you got to wear pretty dresses and eat pizza and donuts.”

She got excited and giggled and then wanted to tell me a story. She said I grew a witch and she kicked me and then I died

Oh well, so much for happy endings!
