When Will I Learn????

Hopefully this will be the last time I will have to learn this particular lesson. And what is that lesson?

Back up your work EVERYTIME you write.

My computer died yesterday. It came up with an error message, yet there is hope. Though costly hope.

$200 for data recovery and I did a ton of work on my current WIP this last month and over vacation and didn’t back up, though I have three very good sources to backup to. My zip drive, external E drive and a Yahoo group I created for backup. But I’m not in the habit of backing things up yet, and I forgot. Last time they recovered all my data, I’m praying they do the same with this one.

I still don’t know how I blew the hard drive, maybe it was trying to get online in different places while on vacation. Anyone have a good answer to this?

Good news is that most of my stuff is backed up. Just not the most important stuff. I plan on making a habit to backup from now on.

But my hard drive is shot. The computer is three years old in September and it will cost another $250 to get it in working order. So I’m trying to convince my hubby it’s in everyone’s best interest to get a new computer (tax write-off and hopefully a couple of good years without my computer blowing!) Plus, we still have the option of fixing the old one and using it for my husband’s business or for the kids.

So tell me your computer woes or a lesson that you still haven’t learned!
