Starting Your Day Out Right!
Scripture, Short Devotion
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
Our God knows there are times in our walk as believers when we must actively choose to exercise faith. I’m talking about those gut wrenching moments when we find ourselves questioning everything we believe.
A diagnosis…a betrayal…a pink slip…a war…a rebellious child…a death…
I’ve watched faith crumble in the face of adversity. I’ve also watch it rise from the ashes of lives that many would consider pointless. I’ve witnessed believers wearing their faith like armor and shouting “I shall not be moved” when the enemy comes at them. I’ve seen others completely blind-sided and they fall where they stand, their faith vanishing like a vapor.
Difficult times will darken our doors but we must cling to faith. We must know that He has plans for us. His plan is not for our destruction but rather, He “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) Let’s go forth today, wearing our faith as “evidence of things not seen”.
Is Your House in Order?
Cleaning, parenting, marriage, organization tips, etc.
We know that God, our spouse and our kids should come before everything else in our lives (in that order too). We’ve talked about these various relational priorities this month but there is one last thing I’d like to mention in regard to priorities. It’s your calendar. Some of us have a problem saying “no”…and of course others of us say it far too easily.
I’m not going to tell you what should or shouldn’t be on your calendar. I would like to challenge you to give it a good look this week though. What do you see? Are the things you invest your time in “good things” or are they “great things”? Usually it’s difficult to see the difference, but there is one. The difference could even be as dramatic as being within the Lord’s will or not. Just because it’s a “good thing” doesn’t mean it’s something that you should invest your time in.
Spend the week reassessing your priorities, commitments and obligations. Take them before the Lord and ask Him to show you where to cut and/or add.
Afternoon Pick Me Up
Writing inspiration
I can’t believe we’re on our final photo for June. This month has really flown by. I hope you’ve enjoyed letting your creative juices flow. Here’s your last inspiration picture. Have fun!
What’s For Dinner?
Quick dinners, crock pots, etc.
Debbie’s Chicken in Marinade
Ingredients:
7pcs. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Marinade:
2 t. Salt
¼ C. Worcestershire sauce
2 T. Dry mustard
1 C. Oil (any kind)
½ C. Red wine vinegar
¾ C. Soy sauce (lite and/or reduced salt works fine)
1 t. Pepper
1 t. Garlic, minced
1 ½ t. Parsley flakes
Combine all marinade ingredients. Place chicken pieces in 1-gallon freezer bag or rigid container. Pour marinade over the meat. (Each recipe makes approximately 3 cups.) Place in the refrigerator for several hours until ready to cook. Grill or cook chicken until the meat is no longer pink inside and the juices run clear. Discard marinade.
Add steamed veggies or a salad. Or you can cut the chicken up and put it on top of a large mixed greens salad.

A Restful Night’s Sleep
Scripture for a restful sleep
“Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.” Psalm 36:5 (NIV)
O, we praise you Father for your love and faithfulness!
Tonight, lift your hands to heaven and give Him the glory! He is faithful even when we are not! He loves even when we are unlovely! Put on some praise music, or like my daughter, make up your own! Let Him tuck you in surrounded by worship of His Majesty! Amen!
