Change

It’s been three weeks since my mother moved in. I haven’t blogged about it yet, at first because I was a little nervous having a mother living in the same town after twenty years on my own. Then life got busy, and there wasn’t much to report on. Things are going better than I could have imagined.

Three days before she packed up her entire life, she broke her arm. The move was difficult with a broken arm, but not as difficult as the waiting has been. We moved her into Joey’s room who moved into Chris’ room (who threw a fit at the idea) but it’s been an easy transition. Except that my mom is a hair dresser and can’t work because she has a cast on her right arm. But it’s been a good time of rest for her. She has a ton of decisions to make like whether she’ll rent or buy a house, what car to buy (she gave her old one to her granddaughter) and then there’s new insurance agents and her hairdressers license to switch to the new state.

Aside from her going a little stir crazy, things are great. I’ve got a built in babysitter for a while and she has my husband to help her with all these tough decisions. The kids like having grandma around and the best part is me and mom haven’t fought once! I’ve really seen a change in my mother and how she’s not letting things get to her as much as they did before. She says she’s felt the most peace being here than she’s felt in a long time!

Now we’re just waiting on God to show her the next step!

From the day I received my first diary in the second grade, I've had a passion expressing myself through writing. Later as a journalist and novelist, I realized words, if used powerfully, have the ability to touch, stir, and reach from the depths of one soul to another. Today as a writing and health coach, I inspire others to live their extraordinary life and encourage them to share their unique stories.
