But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33 NIV
Writer’s block? Overwhelmed? Feeling drained? We all can admit to these feelings on occasion. Our Heavenly Father is waiting to give us a helping hand. I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint. (Jeremiah 31:25 NIV) When first we seek Him and learn to obey, then He will take care of everything else. Join us every Wednesday for the Midweek Motivation at Writer Interrupted. Together we’ll be inspired to put Jesus first and let Him work on “all these things” in our lives.
…let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven. Matthew 5:16 NIV
My ears finally stopped popping when I decided to open my laptop and get a little writing done. I was on the long flight home from Sante Fe to Atlanta by way of Salt Lake City. After attending a writer’s conference, I was ready to be home. My mind buzzed with conversations and ideas. I just needed to get some of my thoughts into words and onto the page.
New blank document. My fingers poised above the keys ready to release the thoughts pouring from my mind when, “Excuse me.” I looked up to see the flight attendant. She had conversed with my friend and I only minutes before – small talk while she poured our drinks. We told her we were returning from a Christian writer’s conference. That stuck with her because when she returned, she crouched down in the aisle and asked, “So, you guys are Christians?”
We nodded as she sat poised, ready to release the thoughts from her mind. This sweet attendant was a new Christian with some problems at home. She had questions she needed answered. We sat and talked with her for a while and asked if we could pray together. Glancing warily over her shoulder, she agreed. So, we three joined hands and hearts lifting our requests to the Father.
After talking and praying, the flight attendant rose and walked back to the front of the plane – a little more sure of herself, a little more sure of her God. She glanced back at us and smiled. I looked down again at my blank document. The words previously rattling in my head were now gone. They were replaced with words of gratitude. Gratitude for being a writer – interrupted.
