A Family Adventure

Mommy’s best helpers Meet the most amazing PR people on the planet~ my three daughters!

At my first book launch, my girls and wonderful husband handed out bookmarks, pointed folks to the chocolate fountain, helped choose names for door prizes and cheered me on as I met readers and signed copies of Ransomed Dreams.

Why?

Because this book was as much my family’s book as it was mine.

They prayed with and for me through it all. And many a dinner conversation was spent talking out a plot problem or character issue. Because I write suspense, I had to be careful how much little ears could handle, but for the most part my kiddos and hubby offered some amazing insights and suggestions.

The thing that warms my heart the most though is when we’re out somewhere and one or all of my girls decide to tell people about my books. They do this even when I’m not around, and it makes me smile because they’re just beaming with pride and glad to share what I do.

They know they’re a vital part of my living this dream and that I can’t and won’t do this writing thing without them.

What’s funny is I’ve never asked them to talk about my books nor given them an idea of what to say. The first time my oldest told a waitress about my writing, I nearly fainted. She asked the woman if she liked to read and when the lady said yes, my daughter proceeded to tell her that, “My mommy writes FBI suspense fiction and her book, Ransomed Dreams, is very good.”

They’ve told their dentist, pediatrician, every waiter or waitress, people who take tickets at the carousel, and even folks at Target. I honestly prefer not being there and just hearing about it later.

One very cool by-product of including my family in my writing is that my children see that they too can dream big and watch God work. They see the ups and downs, the sacrifices and joys of following God’s call thorough one of life’s best teachers…experience.

The writing life is an adventure. Why not use it as a teaching tool too?

From the day I received my first diary in the second grade, I've had a passion expressing myself through writing. Later as a journalist and novelist, I realized words, if used powerfully, have the ability to touch, stir, and reach from the depths of one soul to another. Today as a writing and health coach, I inspire others to live their extraordinary life and encourage them to share their unique stories.
