What Do You Do When You Have Nothing Left to Give, But You Can’t Quit?
You rest…
That’s what I did yesterday afternoon, after I prepared lunch and several meals for my family for this week. After I cleaned the dishes and kitchen with little help from my “busy” family. After I helped with homework and did some “dance therapy” not caring who walked in while I was Cha Cha-ing in the hallway.
I rested.
To be more exact, I napped. Then I woke and went back to the grind of housework, homework, and family care.
Did I have writing projects that needed attention.? Yes.
Were there deadlines creeping up next week? Yes.
Was I mentally wiped to paste together a coherent thought or two when I finally found the time to write? YES!
So I rested some more by going to my “happy place” on Pandora and doing a mindless task of clearing out my inbox.
It’s all I could do.
But today is a new day. And today I will be back on schedule, rested!
Will there be interruptions and demands on my time, emotions, and energies? Yes!
Will I be able to deal with it? Yes, because I am a writer…interrupted. This is the life I am called to, and since I can’t quit, I’ll just keep moving forward…after I rest.
How about you? How are you feeling this Monday?
