Top 5 NonMarketing Things I Learned from the MacGregor Literary Marketing Workshop
As I get ready for the MacGregor Literary Marketing seminar in Chicago this weekend I’m reminded of that first MacLit gathering a few years ago in 2011. And while looking for some content to fill my blog while I’m away I found this half finished post from 2011 in my draft folder and decided to finish it.
Top 5 NonMarketing Things I Learned from 2011 the MacGregor Literary Marketing Workshop
5. Never mix calamari with cheese cake! (Inside joke with author extraordinaire Clay Morgan I’m sure he doesn’t even remember!)
4. There’s NOTHING like New York Pizza! Sorry, Chicago! You can keep your stuffed pizza! I’m a fold-your-greasy-pizza-in-half kinda girl!!
3. When riding the L train and a nice young man offers his seat to others and waits until everyone is seated before finding a seat, don’t strike up a conversation with him or he might ask you to marry him.
2. Never wear bedazzled jeans through airport security unless you want to get patted down!
1. I have the best literary agency in the world!
I spent an amazing time (2011) with the authors and agents of MacGregor Literary learning specifics about part of the publishing process I actually happen to love…marketing. But the most satisfying part of the workshop didn’t happen in the classroom. It happened before and after. When we gathered as a “family” just for fun and to enjoy one another.
And as this 2013 MacLit weekend approaches I’m almost giddy with delight! (Yep, cliche) to see all my writing pals especially since I missed the big ACFW conference this year. And I’m excited to bring back some new marketing insights and maybe a few vague references to some more inside jokes!
