Um… I’ve Been a Little Interrupted

And I’m perfectly okay with it.

It’s taken me a really long time to be okay with not writing, or not worrying about writing, or not stressing about keeping a blog schedule. But it’s a beautiful and freeing place to be.

As a new writer there was this sense of urgency to write and publish, and with that came a lot of heartache and disappointment and questioning my worth as a writer. It took me a long time to learn that there are some things we can control in life. And some things we can’t. And sometimes publication has nothing to do with how good of a writer you are. It’s all about timing. The one thing we really can’t control.

To stay sane and healthy in this crazy world we need to realize that we can only control what we can control, and well, the rest, give it up. For me, I’ve given it up to God, and my recent prayer has been “give me what a need, not what I want.” I know, a dangerous prayer, but I’m kinda hoping I’ll get to the place where what I want IS what I need.

I wish I would have learned the principle of “letting go” sooner. I’m trying to teach my kids that now.

While I’m okay with being interrupted in my writing to concentrate on other life changing things (like fixing up, decluttering, and selling this house,) I’m also trying to do the things I can. Write a little each week, keep my body, mind, and spirit healthy, and taking a new, simpler approach to Writer…Interrupted.

Some things to expect here:

New design and format which will probably be a work in progress, but I thought it better than shutting down the site.

New, streamlined content. (Hopefully by next week my crit partner, Ron Estrada and I will start the 6 month novel.)

And hopefully I’ll get my act together (and overcome my camera shyness) enough to start vlogging about my life’s interruptions in an effort to encourage you to keep your writing on track. (Who am I kidding, I NEED accountability for myself!)

So there you have it. The whole (well almost) interrupted story. Hope to see you back here Monday for the start of the 6 month novel, and tell a friend!

From the day I received my first diary in the second grade, I've had a passion expressing myself through writing. Later as a journalist and novelist, I realized words, if used powerfully, have the ability to touch, stir, and reach from the depths of one soul to another. Today as a writing and health coach, I inspire others to live their extraordinary life and encourage them to share their unique stories.
