I’m So Happy I Can’t Fit into my College Jeans
Darn! I can’t fit into my clothes from college! They’re TOO Big!
In college, I used to wear big, bulky clothes. I was ashamed of my body. Thought I was fat, unattractive. If only I hadn’t been sucked into the destructive poor self image and dieting cycle my entire life, I might have learned to cultivate a better self image and loved myself whatever size.
I can’t go back and change the past, but I can move forward and share what I’ve learned from my own yo-yo dieting. Here’s what I’ve learned since I started my health journey.
1) Health and weight loss is 80% nutrition. No matter how much you workout, you will never get the weightloss and muscle tone you want if you don’t get your nutrition balanced and lose the fat covering your muscle.
2) Nutrition fuels your body the right way. We’re a sleep deprived, exhausted society trying to put a bandaid on a cancer. Caffeine, stimulants, sugar, and powering through your day exhausted does not give your body and brain the fuel it needs to perform at it’s best. You’re fooling yourself if you think it does. Solid, balanced nutrition does. I know, because I’ve experienced both ends of the spectrum. Complete exhaustion to energizer-bunny energy!
3) People want change, but they’re afraid to step out of their comfort zone. I’ve been through a really challenging seven years after my divorce and sometimes food and drink were my only comfort and pleasure, so I get it! It’s hard to let go. But the price (exhaustion, extra weight, physical discomfort) was getting to high. That’s when I reached out to my health coach about a year ago. So glad I did. Not going back! I’ve made health living a lifestyle, and trust me, I’m not deprived!
If you can’t fit into your clothes anymore from a time you felt like your best self, I offer you hope, not an expensive placebo. Who’s ready to gain a new life and wardrobe?
