It’s Time you Lose your Mind!

Your mind can be your greatest enemy or your greatest asset towards transformation! I confess, I often look to someone else’s success and feel my own isn’t good enough. But when I notice this happening, instead of getting caught up in the negativity, I pay attention to “why and what”  I’m feeling. Awareness is the first step to transformation.

If you’re unaware of your behaviors, and how they are controlling you and others, then you can’t take the necessary steps towards instilling habits that lead to transformation. I learned a while ago that I was the one causing my own suffering, not all the other people around me I loved to blame. When I realized THAT, and took responsibility for my own life instead of making excuses and blaming others, my life started to transform. That’s when I learned the importance of losing my mind!

I learned to focus on the blessings in my life and what I have accomplished, even through difficult circumstances, not on the things I don’t have. I learned how to respond to people who triggered my stuff, instead of reacting out of my pain. Even though their behaviors remained the same, they no longer have an impact on me like they did before. I learned if I had the power to create my own suffering, I also had the ability to create my own peace.

When I notice my triggers, I have a choice to continue creating distress in my life by focusing on what I don’t have. Or I can turn my thoughts inward and be thankful for what I do have and all I’ve accomplished.

I won’t lie and say it was or is an easy road. In fact, the emotional open-heart surgery and healing process was quite painful but worth it. And I can’t lie and say it’s all smooth sailing. Sometimes I lose my focus and get tripped up by past negative thoughts and the woe-is-me mentality, but the difference is, I don’t stay there long. That’s when I realize sometimes it’s a good thing to lose my mind, especially if it’s not serving me well.

From the day I received my first diary in the second grade, I've had a passion expressing myself through writing. Later as a journalist and novelist, I realized words, if used powerfully, have the ability to touch, stir, and reach from the depths of one soul to another. Today as a writing and health coach, I inspire others to live their extraordinary life and encourage them to share their unique stories.
