Mid-Week Motivation
Starting Your Day Out Right!
Scripture, Short Devotion
“O Sovereign LORD, you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do the deeds and mighty works you do?” Deut. 3:24 (NAS)
Do you want to shout “Halleluiah” after reading that? I sure do! We serve a God who is strong and capable. When we surrender to His Sovereignty, we bear witness to his greatness. He’s waiting to display His glory. He longs to wow us with His deeds and mighty works. If we don’t see the awesome hand of God in our lives, what on earth do we have our eyes focused on?
I’ve had to ask myself lately, “Is He really LORD of my life?” I wonder if how I structure my day actually reflects what my mouth says I believe. Are my priorities in order with an “O Sovereign LORD” mentality?
Is Your House in Order?
Cleaning, parenting, marriage, organization tips, etc.
I am one of those crazy religious fanatics who believes that order in the home begins with order in the heart. I, personally, have been a bit lax in this department lately. Maybe you have been as well? For the next seven days, let’s commit to keeping a daily appointment with the One we claim as LORD. I will wager that if we stick with it, we will be in a much better place one week from now, no matter what life throws at us.
Afternoon Pick Me Up
Writing inspiration
I love becoming inspired by something and then watching what pours forth on the blank screen. I thought it would be fun to post a photo each week in June to inspire you to let those creative juices flow. Let’s get back to what we really love about writing in its simplest form. I don’t want you to think about grammar, spelling, sentence structure or plot. Just look at the photo and go wherever it leads your imagination.
What’s For Dinner?
Quick dinners, crock pots, etc.
I’m trying to eat healthier but have decided I am sick and tired of the “traditional” salads out there. A couple of weeks ago, when I ran out of tomatoes and scoured the fridge for something to replace them atop my lettuce, I spotted the tub of strawberries and…
Strawberries
Romaine lettuce
Slivered almonds
Balsamic vinaigrette dressing
I didn’t give increments because you can make a little or a lot depending on how many you want to feed. Tear up the Romaine into a bowl (or right on your plate). Cut up 2-3 large strawberries per serving and place in bowl. Add about an ounce of slivered almonds per serving (truthfully, I just reach into the bag and sprinkle on). You can toss the salad in the vinaigrette or allow each person to dress their own.
To make the salad your main dish, add grilled chicken or shrimp. I love this salad because it’s crunchy and sweet but is still so good for you.
A Restful Night’s Sleep
Scripture for a restful sleep
“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10 (NAS)
This morning we talked about the strength of our LORD. Tonight I’d like for us to consider how He is always there to strengthen us, as well. Making Him our top priority this week may present obstacles. We may suffer in one way or another, but I pray it brings you comfort and encouragement to know that our God is a God of grace and mercy. As you close your eyes tonight, ask Him to “perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you”.
