Making Time to Write

Make the most of every opportunity. (Colossians 4:5, NASB)

I think saving time is found in the little things, making the most of every opportunity. Much of this comes from developing good habits and letting go of the bad. For example, I used to stumble down to the kitchen in the morning, turn on the coffee and stare at it while it brewed. It didn’t take long for the Holy Spirit to break through the fog and prod me into using those few minutes in a more productive way.

Instead, after turning on the coffee, my morning routine is to toss in a load of laundry, empty the dishwasher and take dinner out of the freezer. It’s amazing how much I can get done in those six or seven minutes.

In the evening, I’ve make it my habit to pick up the clutter in the family room, look at the calendar for the next day, start the dishwasher and carry up my clean laundry to put away. This is a much better use of my time than my old habit of leaving the dishes until morning and tripping over my shoes on the way up the stairs.

From the day I received my first diary in the second grade, I've had a passion expressing myself through writing. Later as a journalist and novelist, I realized words, if used powerfully, have the ability to touch, stir, and reach from the depths of one soul to another. Today as a writing and health coach, I inspire others to live their extraordinary life and encourage them to share their unique stories.
