Grace: A Blast From the Past

Grace quit sucking her fingers…but it took a gash in her tongue to break her of the habit. Two Sunday’s ago Timmy and Grace were playing and Timmy’s head bunked Grace’s chin and she cut a one inch gash into her tongue. After calling two nurse lines, one suggesting we take her to get stitches and the other saying to leave it alone if it’s not bleeding, we decided to just watch it and make sure it wasn’t bleeding. We gave her some Motrin and put her to bed. She fell asleep without sucking her fingers, but later woke up that night, whimpering as asking to go to the hospital so they could fix her tongue. I took her to my bed and she fell asleep. When Joey was little, he cut his tongue and that stopped him from sucking his fingers and my mom said I did the same thing and my tongue healed nicely with no evidence of the accident. So Grace’s tongue will heal also and it does look much better.
Now for a funnier subject: When I picked Grace up from school the teacher took me aside and told me Grace did something she thought was inappropriate. When she was in the bathroom, she had her panties down and was saying, “Shake your Buddah!” I wasn’t the least bit shocked or surprised. She’s quite the character and I guess it’s my fault. No, I don’t go around naked shaking my bootie, but when she was little, I did teach her that song and I guess I encouraged her by my laughter.
Well, I told her it wasn’t nice to do that at school or even at home without any close on. She said she was shaking her buddah at Steven and that she was sorry. So, will that be the last time she does it, hopefully, but I’m sure she’ll do something else to disrupt the order of the universe. Grace was worried that she’d get a timeout or spanking , I said No, but you can’t do that anymore. Now, if she’s 16 years old shaking her bootie in the bathroom, then I’ll have something to worry about, but for now there’s too many other things to deal with concerning Grace who’s been noted by several teachers and people as the funniest kid they ever met. SNL here we come!
Today we were supposed to have a play date but the little girl had pink eye. Later tonight Grace asked if she could play with “the pink girl with the eye” when she got better. That brought a smile to my face and I just had to share.
