I am Emotionally Undone!

And it’s all because of a book.

Bad Idea by Todd & Jedd Hafer had me laughing and crying, and contemplating my own life as the sarcastic, pessimistic, hopeful Griffin Smith embarks on a cross country journey that changes his life.

I don’t know what resonated with me more, the sarcastic pessimistic teen who reminded me a little of myself when I was younger (minus the self inflicting pain, drug and alcohol addictions, sexual immorality, etc.) or the Amanda Mac character always doing the right thing. But I saw myself in these two characters as well as the adult characters who struggle in their relationships.

The book was surprisingly real, (though I have no idea what it’s like to be an 18 year old boy), yet portrayed these real struggles in a funny and unoffensive way.

When I read the back cover blurb about a guy taking a cross country trip, I had no intentions of reading it. Now I have now intentions of giving it away. So if you want your own copy, you’re going to have to spend the $12.99 yourself. It will be money well spent.

The Hafer brothers are in no way associated with this endorsement. No one has paid me a red cent for this endorsement, though “love gifts” are always accepted. 🙂

From the day I received my first diary in the second grade, I've had a passion expressing myself through writing. Later as a journalist and novelist, I realized words, if used powerfully, have the ability to touch, stir, and reach from the depths of one soul to another.
