Love stories
This month I posted about the significance of Valentine’s Day on another blog. I wanted to share some here because after all I’m an inspirational romance writer so romance/love is important to me in my profession.
Valentine’s Day is a day we celebrate romance or better yet love. I’m not necessarily talking about the love a man and a woman have for each other. I think it’s broader than that. I think it’s about love you have for a friend or a family member. We can also celebrate our love for the Lord. The way I looked at Valentine’s Day is it’s a day to celebrate our capacity to love another. And in all reality we don’t need to have a day declared to do that.
Truly, love is what makes the world go around (as the song says). It’s an ability that the Lord gave us when he created Eve for Adam. What a gift. That needs to be celebrated every day of our life.
So now you see why I was drawn to write romance and romantic suspense books. I love a good love story. Personally I like a happy ending in my books as well as a movie. I like to be entertained and uplifted by the end of a book/movie. That doesn’t mean the characters shouldn’t go through trials during the course of the book. If they don’t, you probably don’t have a good plot or for that matter much character growth.
So what are some good love stories you’ve read in a book or seen in a movie? I’m always looking for something new to read or see. One of my favorites is Pride and Prejudice, which is being shown right now on PBS. I loved the book and I love the version they have on PBS with Colin Firth. He was a great Darcy.
