The Move
Married about two years, my husband and I clearly felt we were supposed to move. However, nothing about a move made sense. We both had jobs, we only had one car but we were managing, and we had a cute little apartment.
I tried to rationalize why it wasn’t a good idea to move. I even made a list. We wouldn’t have a place to live. We didn’t have any leads on jobs. If we did find jobs and they weren’t in close proximity, how would we make one car work then?
The longer the list grew, the more worried I became. But the feeling we were supposed to move wouldn’t go away. We prayed, and determined we would seek God and His plans first, regardless of our how we felt. I’m sure Abraham and Sarah may have worried too when God called them to a new home.
We packed up and set off, temporarily staying with my husband’s parents. Within two weeks we both had secured jobs. My husband’s job provided him with a company car. Mine provided us with on campus housing. God knew our needs and provided them all.
Unpacking in my new house, I thought about past times I let worry keep me from obeying God’s promptings. I wondered how many blessings I had missed.
Is there something God is calling you to step out in faith to do? Are you responding with worry? Don’t miss what He has planned for you. He will supply all of your needs.
Lord, forgive me for the times I doubt your calling. Help me to seek you first with confidence that you will provide everything I need.
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:31-33
And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
