Summer Reading Picks: Pool Side Picks!

I’m up early.

On a Saturday. My alarm went off at 6:30 when I set it for 8. So I thought I’d tackle the reviews of the growing stack on my desk. Almost a year’s worth.

How it’s going to work: I don’t have time to for slow reads so I’m posting my favorite. Did I mention it’s about a year’s worth? And I broke them down into fun categories, I hope! No promises, though. It is early.

On a Saturday!

Pool Side Picks

Save the Date by Jenny B. Jones

Funny, sweet, quirky. Surprisingly (or not so surprisingly) that describes Jenny AND Save the Date. Jenny delivers lovably, flawed characters in a fun, heartfelt read. Sort of like a Cinderella tale, but with a Professional Football player wannabe congressman and a maid’s daughter turned half-way house mom. Need I say more? I laughed, I cried…okay I smiled a lot! What more do you want in a summer read?

Licensed for Trouble by Susan May Warren

PJ Sugar is back in the latest installment of the Troubled series. After inheriting a strange mansion, from a stranger widow, PJ embarks on a journey of adventure, self-discovery, and house renovations with a cast of hunky, overprotective men. Throw in a bail jumper and you’ve got a great summer read! Oh, to be PJ, just for a day! What fun and mishaps I’d be in for!

The Anonymous Bride by Vickie McDonough

I’m not your typical romance reader. In fact, I never really liked reading romance until I read Vickie McDonough’s historicals. The writing is tight, the voice unique, and the characters crawl into your heart and bed down for a fun, yet touching read.

Hidden shame, broken hearts, unexpected jealousy, and a little rascal of a daughter with a plan to get her Maw hitched to the new sheriff! Need I say more?

Well, that’s my Pool Side Picks. Light hearted, fun, yet touching books you can read by the pool!

I still have a stack of books to go through. Next time: Elliptical Thrillers! Books that keep my heart racing and pages turning, while my feet are moving!!
