Great Advice for Interrupted Writers in Romans

Faithfully applying the encouraging Bible verses from Romans 12 to our lives turns even writing or caregiving interruptions into sweet blessings Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Interruptions. They seem to be very common to writers in every country. They are definitely very common to caregivers all over the world. And they can carry a heavy load of frustration to everyone everywhere!

Did you know they can also be one of the many things God uses to prove what His will is? Think about it. Well, really, think about Romans 12:1-2. Have we truly presented our bodies to God – surrendering ourselves fully and completely to Him? Are we honestly seeking to be transformed by the renewing of our minds in order to prove what His will is? Then anything that happens in our lives, including interruptions, have been allowed by Him. And letting Him adjust our mindset to His turns even an ordinary interruption into something special that reveals His will.

I admit it. I don’t always get it. And I definitely don’t always obey well. But when I do, I always see such sweet blessings. Like yesterday. While feeding a friend’s dog, I was interrupted by their pool filter springing a leak. Then I was delayed further when I went to get my tires rotated. But I kept turning all these interruptions over to God and praising Him. And in the end, it turned out I needed a new tire, which I got. I even worked on a writing project in the midst of all those interruptions – thanks to my handy dandy iPhone.

Best of all, because of these delays, God had me in just the right spot at just the right time to run into a total stranger and bless Him with God’s love and encouragement. What a wonderful way to end the day!

We won’t always handle those interruptions according to His will, sadly, since we live in a fallen world. But when we do, we will be blessed in a myriad of ways – here and in our heavenly treasure chest!

Dear Father, Thank You for Your encouraging Scripture to remind us to give all of ourselves, even our interruptions, to You. I pray You would give us the strength and the wisdom to do this faithfully and that you would, in turn, use those interruptions to help prove out Your will in our lives, in our hearts, and in our writing.
