Love Yourself to Health
Food does not love us. Neither can people if we don’t love ourselves first.
This Valentine’s Day I’m celebrating true love!
In the past, this holiday has been a very painful reminder of just how many men in my life “didn’t love me.”
From the age of 6 all the way through my divorce and a couple years beyond,
I’ve lived a life wondering what was wrong with me?
Why no one wanted me or loved me?
Even though I knew Jesus loved me,
there was still so much hurt in my heart that needed to be healed in time.
And because of that hurt, I allowed behaviors and people in my life that I shouldn’t have
in hopes of gaining the approval and love of others.
It took a lot of work over the years,
uncovering that lie for what it was,
learning to forgive, and getting myself out of
several unhealthy relationships
to realize the truth.
There is nothing wrong with me.
I am loved and loveable, just as I am.
Always was, but deep down I just didn’t believe it.
I no longer need or want to comfort myself with counterfeit loves
like unhealthy relationships, food, and drink.
I am enough alone because I’m never truly alone.
God IS love, so I am forever loved.
While I still desire a healthy romantic relationship
and someone to share my amazing life with,
I don’t need anyone to enjoy my life.
When I decided to love myself to health
(emotional, spiritual, and physical,)
I lost the girl on the left.
She no longer exists.
She tried so hard to fill the loneliness in her heart
with things that didn’t last. The girl on the right still gets lonely and desires connection,
BUT she decided to love herself while she waits in expectation,
living a full healthy life leaning on Jesus, excited for what and who is to come.
You ARE loved. Love yourself to health and the rest will fall into place.
