The Hardest Part About Transformation

This past month, I let my habits of health slip. It was nothing major, but enough for me to be up on the scale and I knew I would continue to gain if I didn’t do something about it. So Monday, I put myself on my fat burn plan and I’m on day 5 and down 4 lbs!

Though the plan is simple, it hasn’t been easy. I’ve said no to going out to places that trigger me to eat and drink. I’ve been tempted and a bit hungry, but I knew I would be rewarded if I stayed on the path and I reminded myself the little bit of hunger was a good thing. It was signaling by body to pull from my fat reserve.

The hardest part about transformation is changing our mindset. But if you’re not ready to change, nothing or no one is going to move you. You have to become so uncomfortable in your own skin and situation that staying where you are is not an option. And some of you are clinging so tightly to your comfort, lies, and fears that it’s going to end up killing you physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Today, if there is something in your life leading you down a path that is not good, that sucks the hope and dreams from you, or that might even end up killing you literally or figuratively, I’m praying for you to be so uncomfortable in your skin… in your soul… that you take that first scary step towards health and healing.

7 years ago I left a toxic marriage and sought emotional healing.
4 years ago I stopped running from God and let him back in to continue the healing.
2 1/2 years ago I said yes to a scary business opportunity I was not ready or prepared for.
2 years ago I said yes to my health and the negative coping habits I had developed over the years.

I am no one special. If I did it, so can you. How?

1. Decide you won’t continue on your current path
2. Commit to learning, changing your habits, and growing.
3. Seek help and community. Transformation does not occur in isolation.
4. Take that first scary step and then keep going.
5. If you fall down, reach out for your community for support
6. No matter the depth or strength of your faith, invite Jesus to walk with you so he can carry you when the road gets rough.

I believe in you! I’m praying for you!

You got this!

From the day I received my first diary in the second grade, I've had a passion expressing myself through writing. Later as a journalist and novelist, I realized words, if used powerfully, have the ability to touch, stir, and reach from the depths of one soul to another. Today as a writing and health coach, I inspire others to live their extraordinary life and encourage them to share their unique stories.
