Jesus’ Tomb Found?

I don’t know if you’ve heard the controversial news on the alleged discovery of Jesus’ lost tomb, but before you get swept away with the hype it’s a good idea to get all the facts. That is both sides of the story. I received this email earlier this week.

Tonight “the Discovery Channel will be broadcasting the world premier of “The Lost Tomb of Jesus” a new film by Producer James Cameron (of “Titanic” fame) and Director Simcha Jacobovici. The film claims that archeologists have discovered the Jesus Family Tomb in Jerusalem, containing the ossuaries (caskets) that once held the bones of Jesus and members of the Holy Family. But there’s more. The film also proposes to have evidence that the tomb contained the ossuary of Jesus’ wife, Mary Magdalene, and their son, Judah.

Claims like these have a dramatic impact on how the world views Christianity. Are the Gospels reliable? Could this ‘new’ information be true? How do the filmmakers know these are the ossuaries of Jesus and his family? How can they claim that he was married and had a son? Is the Bible in error when it claims that Jesus was resurrected and ascended into heaven? Clearly there is a lot to digest here, and as Christians, we need to know the truth and be able to articulate that truth to those around us in an informed and loving way. That’s why this month, as we are approaching Easter, PleaseConvinceMe.com is taking time to give you the tools you need to present the truth to those who have questions about the true history and nature of Jesus.”

I won’t be able to watch it tonight (no Discovery Channel) but if you do, I’d like to know what it’s all about.
