Progress Over Perfection: Week 7 Eat within an Hour of Waking up

Although there are many different opinions on this subject, as I health coach I tell my clients to eat breakfast within 30 minutes to an hour of waking up. I must add, if you under a doctor’s care or taking certain medicines, you should follow their instructions. However, similar to the reasons why you should drink water first thing in the morning, eating breakfast within an hour of waking up helps to balance your blood sugar and hormones. Because your body has just fasted, within an hour of waking up it’s ready to receive good nutrition.

“Eating breakfast first thing in the morning will start your metabolism for the day, give you energy, clear your brain, and reduce your lunchtime appetite.”

Dr. Wayne Andersen

No, not all breakfasts are created equal and will give you the energy you need to give you a positive start your day. If you really want to give your body the best energy and nutrition to make it to lunch, but down the donut and sugary carb breakfast, that will have you crashing in a few hours, and reach for something your body will reward you with energy.

From the day I received my first diary in the second grade, I've had a passion expressing myself through writing. Later as a journalist and novelist, I realized words, if used powerfully, have the ability to touch, stir, and reach from the depths of one soul to another. Today as a writing and health coach, I inspire others to live their extraordinary life and encourage them to share their unique stories.
